Spelling
Children begin their spelling journey through phonics and learning high frequency sight words (tricky words); they then progress to following the word lists and spelling patterns ascribed in the new national curriculum. We have adopted the ‘Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check’ method across school, with all year groups following the same structure, including spelling activities and homework; class teachers test the children’s spellings on a weekly basis within the normal classroom practice.
